What is Smelting and how it is done?
Smelting is the process of extracting a metal (like tin or copper) from its ore. Most ores are a chemical compound of metal with other elements, like or oxygen sulphur. For example, zinc is more reactive than copper so it has to be extracted by smelting.
Smelting is a process of applying heat to ore in order to extract a base metal. It is a form of extractive metallurgy. Smelting uses heat and a chemical reducing agent to decompose the ore, driving off other elements as gases or slag and leaving the metal base behind.
