How does a transformer work?

Transformer works based on principle of electromagnetic inductionWhen an electric current flows through a wire, it generates a magnetic field or magnetic flux all around it & vice versa.
There are 2 coils in a transformer. In the 1st coil, magnetic field or flux is induced by the current. This magnetic flied induced in turn generated electric current across 2nd coil.
The voltage induced is proportional to the no. of turns on the coil. See the relationship below. This is how we can either Step Up (increasing voltage) or Step Down (decreasing voltage) by using appropriate no. of turns on Primary & Secondary coils.

Transfer does not produce energy or electricity. It only changes its voltage.
